About SaHel Locs
SaHel Locs didn't start in a salon. It started at home with Esther Abegley, a mother sitting with her daughter's hair in her hands, learning, experimenting, and falling deeply in love with the art of locs. What began as a personal passion became a purpose, and that purpose became a studio.
Today, SaHel Locs is one of Laurel, Maryland's most trusted names in natural loc care. Esther is trained, certified, and deeply committed to every client who walks through our doors. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a consultation before booking an installation service?
Yes, a consultation is required before booking an installation. A consultation allows us to assess your hair's health, density, and texture, and ensure the service you're booking is truly the right fit for your hair.
How long does a microlocs installation take?
Microlocs installation is one of the most detailed and time-intensive services in loc care — and we never rush it. The duration depends on your hair's length, density, and the complexity of your installation. During your consultation, we will give you a realistic time estimate based on your specific hair profile so you can plan accordingly.
Do you provide hair extensions for loc extension services?
No — SaHel Locs does not supply, sell, or source hair extensions. If your service requires extensions, you are responsible for purchasing and bringing your own to your appointment. We highly recommend booking a Loc Extension Consultation before your installation so we can advise you on exactly what type and quantity of extensions you'll need for your desired look.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We completely understand that life happens — all we ask is that you give us at least 48 hours' notice for any cancellation or rescheduling request. This allows us to offer your time slot to another client. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before your appointment will, unfortunately, result in the forfeiture of your deposit. No-shows will also forfeit their deposit in full.
How often should I come in for retightening?
For most clients, we recommend retightening every 4–6 weeks to keep your locs looking neat and your roots healthy. If you tend to wait longer between visits — around 6–8 weeks — we have a retightening service designed specifically for that interval too. The right frequency for you depends on your hair's growth rate and your loc stage, and we will help you figure out the perfect maintenance schedule during your appointment.
I've had a bad experience with a previous loctician. Can SaHel Locs help?
Absolutely — and you are not alone. We offer a Transfer Client Consultation specifically for clients who are transitioning from another stylist, dealing with damage, or simply ready for a fresh start.
